My advise would be do not choose a college first based on rank then choosing a subject rather first you got to decide what subject you wanna specialize in and then you choose the univ. Many time there would be circumstances where colleges you wouldn’t have even heard but they could be the best in the subject you wanna to expertise.Consult with any PhD students you know doing presently in your field who also have experience with many univ. Before you opt for a univ.

I did not have to write any exams. I used educational counselors and I requied a visa. I chose jet airways and I felt no difficulty in getting my tickets and with that I was even given an offer since I’m travelling in student visa also with a student’s kit. I landed at the Heathrow international airport and was approx. 36 miles from my univ. There were baggage rules and it keeps changing every month now a days. When I bought the ticket the rule was totally different from when I took the flight from India. They were not very strict in baggage for the students. I didn’t face any immigration issues except that all the students were asked to go for a medical check in the Heathrow airport itself despite the fact that they had alredy had one at India. Yes, there was a “meet and greet” service at the airport.

The kinds of assistanceship/scholarships/tution fees waiver changes every year and it keeps increasing every year.

I was quite happy with how my program was structured. I had the world’s best professor’s for the subjects I had chosen and my specialization, entire ll.m as well.

I lived an en-suite room. I opteed for the univ. Accomodation. We had the fantastic library which I would say the biggest +. Yes, we do have the sports facility of all kind. To get part time job it depends on what type of jobs you expect and where you apply and many other things matters. The life in London is totally a different experience and has a good social life. Weather is pretty cold. We do have societies like for ex: hindu society, muslim, tamil, punjabi like and the events all differ to their culture.

There is a placement cell but job prospectus to international students mainly depends on govt. Policies and more over you may not be required even by all law firms in a year but you may be required by every one the next year. Its all depends on the firms decision. The college doesn’t see to that you are pushed in to any firm. They make available the process but its sole discretion of the firms. Now if u study in u.k for more than a year you get work permit for 2 years and after that your employer had to apply. Now work permit is restricted especially for the asians and more specifically Indians. There is an alumni society in my university which is really active. They don’t help in placements.
